Atlantics 2005 - September 3rd, 2005

Reported by:
Andrew Saunders

Midnight, at the field, Purdy was drunk, real drunk, 'who shit in my pants' drunk, screamin and yellin. Other people were up drinking but knew they couldn't compete and went to bed. Time passes. Then around 3am Johnny shows up at the field in a taxi from 'trolling' at the bars (his terminology, ask him what it means hahaha). The next morning everyone shows up bright and early, and for those that didn't get to bed early get the pleasure of waking up a full two hours before the event even starts to all the kiddies running around dry firing their guns as fast and long as possible.

The field layout was geared for the crowd. An odd layout; the pillars were along the netting while the spider, which almost nobody used, was on the other side of the field. It was a meat grinder all day. Lots of runs throughs, bunkers, various goodness.

The Top Gun for the free trip to practice with Miami Effect in the states was held. Jim had two wins and Matt had one meaning Matt had to win twice to Jim's once. Matt won twice, and a third for good measure. Here's some pictures from that trip.

The kids in GKY coming up from NY won it, it being $3500. Wasaga Beach barely beat out Spikes 5150 with both teams having two wins and a loss. Strict Union better stay the hell out of Montreal. Now the best part of this event was at the end. Instead of the usual rendezvous at the VU after an event, it was going to be closed so they dropped off a ton of beer and rum for free! There was beer in the coolers, and this is no joke, for 10 minutes tops. I never even saw what kind of rum it was. Atlantic Canadian paintballers in a nutshell...

A note on the photos - The first day the camera went nuts, it refused to color balance properly and produced pictures with a green tinge and some with a sepia look. Also I'm too lazy to color correct anything...

Photos - Awards ceremony, Best pictures, Action shots.
